The structure of the PE curriculum at Ashton Park:
Our curriculum is structured around key sports each term. Most of the sports we teach are taught in each of the three years allowing them to develop their knowledge and understanding of each - Netball, Rugby, Football, Athletics, Tennis, Gymnastics, Dance. There are also some sports that do not repeat that we have included to give our students the widest experience of sports and help them all develop as healthy, curious and active sportspeople.
Our lessons are structured around three key areas that allow our students to become knowledgeable, actively engaged, independent and confident:
- The Health Zone - where we teach students about the health related theme relevant for that sport/activity and year group
- The Skills Zone - where we teach the skills relevant for that sport/activity and year group
- The Performance Zone - where we teach students about co-operative and competitive situations / scenarios / tactics / performance
