Key Stage 4
Our Key Stage 4 is two years long and builds on the strong foundations that have been built at Key Stage 3. Students get to choose the subjects they want to study and these are kept as broad and balanced as possible.
Core qualifications
We give a significant amount of time in our curriculum to Mathematics and English as we understand the importance of these two core subjects in aiding our students in all of their studies.
We also recognise the importance of having a strong scientific understanding. Our students are able to choose between a combined Science GCSE or separate sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics GCSEs).
Combined Science Separate Sciences
EBaac pathway qualifications
We appreciate the importance of the EBacc pathways and as a result all of our students have to choose one humanities subject (history or geography) or a modern foreign language or separate sciences.
Option qualifications
Students then have a further three option subjects. For some of our students this might be more Ebacc options (as above) but as you will see below we offer a wider range of options from the more creative to the more traditional.
Art - Photography Business Studies
DT - Materials Health & Social Care
Non qualification subjects
In addition to the formal qualifications the students study they also have time in their curriculum for core PE lessons and Personal Development lessons.
For details of how many hours each subject has please see the Key Stage 4 table on the Curriculum Approaches page.
