KS4 Resource Base
The Ashton Park Resource Base is a specialist provision for children with EHCPs for Speech, Language and Communication Needs.
In the Resource Base we strongly believe that all students, regardless of their starting points, are entitled to a broad and balanced curriculum. When progressing to Key Stage 4 in the Resource Base, students continue to benefit from increased support whilst accessing a range of option subjects alongside their peers.
In Key Stage 4, students are taught English, Maths and PSHE in the Resource Base. They join their mainstream peers for Science, Core PE and choose three option subjects - one fewer than the majority of students. This additional curriculum time is used in the Resource Base to support learning, with individual and group intervention and Speech and Language Therapy. Students also benefit from our tailored careers support, Duke of Edinburgh award and bespoke extra-curricular activities.
All students are supported to take GCSE qualifications in English, Maths, Science and their option subjects. English Literature is taken in Year 10, allowing Year 11s to focus on English Language and Entry-Level qualifications are available where appropriate.
